“Who we are as a people is defined by our Seven Sacred Teachings. If our people are to be healed and get well again they will have to go back to the teachings that were given to them.”

Sagkeeng Child & Family History
Sagkeeng First Nation established Sagkeeng Child & Family Services in 1978. Sagkeeng was one of the first Indigenous Child & Family Service agencies in Manitoba.
Sagkeeng Child & Family Services was founded on the beliefs, values and desires of the community with respect to the wellbeing of their children and families.
Core Values
Children are sacred gifts and as a community it is our responsibility to ensure their physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs are being met.
Children and families are the foundation of our community and they have the right to respect, dignity and self-determination. Every child has the right to reach their full potential within their family and community.
Our work is guided by the following principles and teachings: Honesty, Respect, Humility, Courage, Love, Wisdom, and Truth.
